Our group Christmas party.
Another year and another fun Christmas. This year we had Angie's mom visiting from Chile, She doesn't speak any English, but she communicated through translation. We had a great dinner with a roast, Jeaneen's famous potatoes, Nancy's great fruit salad and more yummy dishes that we enjoy every year for this special occasion. The presents were great, I can't choose a favorite as I am enjoying each of them. This year we miss our dear friend Jolene that is now working and living in New Jersey...but she will be here for the holidays and we'll celebrate my birthday before she goes back...more presents and more fun. I love each one of these ladies, we are friends for over ten years now and each of them is amazing , talented and wonderful. I'm so lucky to have this circle of friends.

Red Room Creations Logo
So here it is. Finally. The logo was completed this weekend. Krystel worked super hard and being as a perfectionist as her mother, it took her several tries to get it where she wanted it to be. I love the flower with the poka dots, because it is so me and what I love, and I love the 'R' because it's modern and very artistic. So here I go making my little journals and cards, and turning a long time hobby into a little fun business.

Hoover Dam
David and I decided to go on a road trip, which end up not been much of a road trip as we only made it to Vegas. We had perfect, perfect weather and some time to just enjoy fall. On our second day we made it to the Hoover Dam. I had seen pictures before, but nothing prepared me for the amazing engineering world of the Hoover Dam. We were there for several hours and did lots of walking, we also went on a tour to see the electric plant.

Zermatt Resort-Midway Utah
Happy birthday David!!! This was David's birthday present this year...a stay at the Zermatt. He did not want any presents, he just wanted a little getaway. It was the first cold weekend of the season. The grounds were beautiful and they have a small bakery that reminded me of Chile with all the great german pastries.

My ten minutes of fame.
I was notified last July that I was selected as one of the "20 most influencial hispanic business leaders in Utah" http://connect-utah.com/articles/20-influential-hispanic-business-leaders. A great honor in our community. I had a photoshoot ...sort of nervewracking...I was glad when the process was over and this month the magazine was published! Inside there is an article about the 20 people that were selected, many of them I personally know through business relationships and they are people that I very much admire.

For the second year, Business Connect, together with the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (UHCC), recognizes 20 prominent Hispanic business leaders. A panel of businesspeople from within the community selected the 20, and the UHCC oversaw the process.
Miguel Rovira, chairman of the UHCC, says the criteria was simple: Successful individuals who have contributed to Utah business and the community.

“These 20 are committed, intelligent people who’ve become role models for the younger Hispanic generation. Many of them have risen above great odds,” Rovira says.
These men and women work in fields ranging from arts and entertainment to law and nonprofit, and their ethnic origins vary from 10 different countries.“Since moving to Utah in 2004, I’ve seen tremendous minority growth and witnessed the huge impact Hispanics are having,” says Rovira, who is also director of Latin America and Canada in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “I’m seeing more younger Hispanic professionals with aspirations to be at the top of their field and more established professionals making an even greater impact.”
According to new U.S. Census Bureau estimates, minorities — mostly Hispanics — make up 16.5 percent of the Utah population, up from 8.8 percent in 1990. They could reach 20 percent by 2010. The surge is broadening the vision of Utah businesses in every industry and expanding its potential to reach out to more diverse markets.

Waterfall
David started designing this project some time last year after visiting some friends that have a waterfall and because we decided we really were missing an important element in our backyard…the sound of water…. While I was at my Tabby retreat he decided to get going. Of course is much bigger than what he originally described to me and he is adding his artistic touch as he goes….
